Hello! I’m Malgorzata Drewniok, and I work in UK higher education. I wear several professional hats: HE manager, HE education specialist, academic, linguist, EAP practitioner, and Third Space professional. I will explore and talk about all these on this page.
I have a PhD in Linguistics and I would describe myself as a pragma-stylistician. I wrote my PhD on how the language is manipulated to signal the change of identity in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003), hence my Twitter handle: @Vampirelinguist !
By trade I’m an EAP (English for Academic Purposes) practitioner – I have been involved in teaching, designing and managing EAP, study skills and research skills courses in UK HE since 2008.
I love to learn and do my best to remain research active, despite my busy managerial role. My research interests are:
Language of popular culture (especially film and TV), language of advertising and branding, and more related to my job – Third Space professionals in HE.
